I have read many reviews and I have 6 or 7 string trimmers sitting around here. Most of them did a great job for a short time. The major down fall is not the trimmer or motor but the string that does the cutting. I have had only one gas powered trimmer in the last 30 years that had a motor problem.
My problem is always the string. The string that you buy on a factory wrapped spool that welds itself together and then breaks. Stopping every 3 to 4 feet to disassemble the string spool is time consuming and wastes the string. Why doesn’t anyone review the type of string that is being used? I have spools of string made in China that are simply a headache waiting to happen. All of the trimmers still work but without a good string, they are useless.
I spent 4 hours trimming a small senior citizen lot using a grass hog and a Homelite and the string was the problem on both not the motors.
